Herbed Cheese Puff Pastry Straws

A festive appetizer that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Makes Approximately 16-18

Ingrediants

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store bought)

  • 1 ½ Tbsp butter, melted

  • ½ tsp za’atar seasoning (substitute: garlic powder)

  • ½ cup parmesan cheese, grated fine

  • 2 tsp fresh minced herbs – rosemary, thyme and/or chives

Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper
    • In a small bowl combine the melted butter and za’atar seasoning. In another small bowl mix together the parmesan cheese and fresh herbs
    • Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to approximately a 10x12 inch square
    • Brush on melted butter and za’atar mixture to the edges of the puff pastry. Sprinkle the cheese and herb mixture evenly over pastry
    • Cut crosswise into ½” strips. Carefully twist the strips and place on the baking sheet pressing slightly on the ends to prevent twisting
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes, watching carefully not to burn. Let cool for about 5 minutes and serve warm. Can be eaten at room temperature but for the best eating experience enjoy warm from the oven
