Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store bought)
  • 1 ½ Tbsp butter, melted
  • ½ tsp za’atar seasoning (substitute: garlic powder)
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese, grated fine
  • 2 tsp fresh minced herbs – rosemary, thyme and/or chives

Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper
    2. In a small bowl combine the melted butter and za’atar seasoning. In another small bowl mix together the parmesan cheese and fresh herbs
    3. Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to approximately a 10x12 inch square
    4. Brush on melted butter and za’atar mixture to the edges of the puff pastry. Sprinkle the cheese and herb mixture evenly over pastry
    5. Cut crosswise into ½” strips. Carefully twist the strips and place on the baking sheet pressing slightly on the ends to prevent twisting
    6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, watching carefully not to burn. Let cool for about 5 minutes and serve warm. Can be eaten at room temperature but for the best eating experience enjoy warm from the oven
